Big Changes for 2024 :)

I’ve been looking at the resolutions I made at the end of 2022 for the year 2023. Most of my resolutions weren’t met — maybe because I created too many goals and plans, but also because they seem to be scattered in many different areas of my life. I set myself up for failure.

While my YouTube channel has taken off this past year (thank you, friends!), I don’t think I’m doing it “right.” Again, because it’s unfocused and covers too wide a range. I like tea, and coffee, and sweets, and cruising and shopping. And plants and insects, and crafting. The list goes on and on. And I want to improve my Chinese and learn Japanese, and also learn how to sail my new sailboat. But there isn’t enough time in the day to film and upload videos on all these topics. So… 

This year, I’d like to try harder to be better, and I think the best way to do this is to plan LESS and FOCUS. 

For 2024, I’m niching down. That just means that content is going to be focused on only a few topics. Many influencers focus on one topic or produce content in one style, but I find that boring. Recently I came across a YouTuber who tries out recipes from vintage cookbooks — but that’s all she does! After a few videos, I admit I was bored because I was left not knowing much else about her than she likes cookbooks. Content can’t be everything for everyone, but there should be some range!

The plan for 2024 is to develop a formula to my shows, and upload on a schedule. I hope to upload three times a week, and create videos that focus on prepping and having afternoon tea. Now, that tea might take place at home, in the forest, on a cruise ship, on the beach, atop a paddle board, or in a tea shop. There has to be some variety! Keep an eye out for the first afternoon tea video, starting January 2, 2024.

You probably have a lot of interests, too. Are you finding as you get older this list of interests gets narrower — or are you constantly adding more interests to the list?
